Milwaukee Summerfest Refugee StageAbout the Refugee Stage

The Refugee Stage is a small independent stage run by two local musicians of the band Poor J. What started off as the band playing outside the gates of the festival for tips 7 years ago, has transformed itself into one of the most diverse stages known as “The Smallest Stage at The World’s Largest Music Festival,” SUMMERFEST.

Located on the Southern end of The Lakewalk, The Refugee Stage features some of the best unsigned artists from local and surrounding areas. From techno and hip-hop, to acoustic and experimental, The Refugee Stage aims to give a voice to the independent artist that deserves the chance to play, regardless of their genre of music. We hope you’ll get a chance to stop by and listen to the sounds streaming from our speakers…And be sure to support local music!
